AND WHAT A FANTASTIC WEEKEND IT WAS . . .

Thursday night I drank . . . 5-7 beers and 1 cup of Jungle Juice

Friday night I drank . . . 24oz*5= 120oz of Pilsner Urquel on Tap

Saturday night I drank . . . 5-7 beer and 2 cups of Jungle Juice

I PROBABLY DO NEED TO STOP DRINKING . . Well it is College :-)

So I am continuing my quest to enjoy this last remaining year of fun and debauchery here at lovely UCDavis. For those of you attending this fine Top-50(According to US NEWS & WORLD REPORT) University you will know that it is quite a happening place when you really motivate yourself to get involved and meet as many fine individuals between the ages of 18-22. SO GET OUT THERE BE INVOLVED!!

Being in a fraternity gives you a great broad visualization of the campus lifestyle. I'm not talking just about the alchi and the females. . . I'm referring to all those individuals out there who bad mouth fraternities as evil organizations that have guys who pay to have friends and drink all day long adding nothing more than a few empty cans of beer to our campus society. Well let me be the first to respond to such an ignorant comment. . . A fraternity is an organization about having fun and becoming a part of a huge support group that exists as a prime networking tool, as well as a conduit to meet people on this campus and further our opportunities to succeed. If you think I'm wrong take Davis for example. . .

The ASUCD President for the last two years: Fraternity men . . . THEY MAKE DECISIONS FOR YOU AS YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES

ASUCD Senate, historically 40% Greek . . .THEY BRING GRASS ROOT CAUSES TO CAMPUS

Employees of the Bookstore many of whom are affiliated with a Fraternity or Sorority . . . THEY MAKE SURE YOUR FINDING WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR

Managers and Supervisors at the Coffee House: Fraternity guys and Sorority girls. . . THEY MAKE YOUR FOOD

Unitrans Bus Drivers and Tipsy Taxi: Fraternity guys and Sorority girls . . . THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH TRANSPORTATION

The Beuhler Alumni Center Near Mondavi: Donated by a fraternity . . . THEY BRING IN MONEY TO THIS CAMPUS

The Facebook: Created by a Fraternity Guy . . . INFLUENCES A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF OUR DAILY ROUTINE

Employees of many of the Campus Resources, including but not limited to the ARC, Shields Library, Campus Copies, IM Sports, ICA teams, Alumni Center, Annual Fund and Aggie Pack. . . FRATERNITIES AND SORORITIES ARE A MAJOR SUPPORT FOR ALL THE THINGS ON CAMPUS WE REALLY ON OR INTERACT WITH ON A DAILY BASIS.

The fact is the individual who questions fraternity motivations is an individual who has not gained the experience or the intellect to see the impact the Greek System has on the UCDavis campus.

As for a City that seems to neglect a Greek System they felt the presence of UCD Greeks at a recent city council meeting which illustrates a fact that we play a large role in every facet of this campus and the Davis community as a whole.

So the next time you pass by a fraternity party or see a fraternity guy wearing letters don't look at him and think "he's a beer drinking moron" you should re-evaluate yourself and think maybe you are missing something.

A fraternity is a place to forge natural leaders and to take bold strides toward future accomplishments while at the same time taking full advantage of the opportunities and connections for 4-5 years of your collegiate career.

BTW . . G. Street Theaters will be showing Everything is Illuminated at 1pm and 7pm on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. It is a great film from Warner Independent Pictures.
